Description

This is a Cape Buffalo mother and her calf that was in the herd of my last upload. Please zoom for detail. The redbilled oxpeckers on mom's back is believed to be eating the ticks on the animals but they are actually just drinking the blood from the tick bites - quite disgusting actually! Outstanding detail in this great shot of the Cape Buffalo, Carin, replete with vampirelike Redbilled Oxpeckers enjoying a bloody repast. From her expression, the mother appears unfazed by it all.
