Description

I worked at Kennedy Space Center from 1984-2000 and one of the things I used to hear from technicians was the name "Rocket ranch". That name was used to identify KSC. It is now the title for this simple image, but I chose to use it to highlight the US and Russian human spaceflight rockets. From left to right: USSR/Russian LVs. Vostok. Voskhod. Soyuz (Still in use today). N-1 lunar launch vehicle. Energia/Buran. USA LVs. Space shuttle. Saturn-V. Saturn-1B. Gemini Titan II. Mercury Atlas. Mercury Redstone. I modeled all of the rockets during the 1990s for other projects. The pickup truck and Cessna-150 are models I got elswhere but its been so long I don't recall where I got them.

That must have been an amazing place to work! I'd love to see a launch in person - just once. A great look at Russian and American space vehicles! Amazing how the Russian shuttle looks exactly like ours! LOL!

We used to call working at the cape "Trapped in Paradise"...it was probably the most I will ever accomplish in my life. The Russian shuttle orbiter is almost a carbon copy of the US orbiter. I once heard that they would have Aviation Week and Space Technology magazine translated into Russian as it was being flown to Moscow in the cold war days. Glad you liked my image.
