Description

This image shows early morning activity near an airport which I rendered for a graphic novel project I'm working on. The tractor trailer is an unusual configuration because the trailer is on two large tire dollies. This indicates a pretty heavy trailer, what's inside? The trailer is positioned at the loading door of a non descript warehouse building. I built this scene in Lightwave 3D V9 and it takes place in 1985. The models: The cops are Poser models I did and made a few facial adjustments on, although that cannot be seen at this distance. I exported them to Lighwave for use in scenes such as this. The cars came with LW3D and the cop cars were 1977 Impalas that were on an old CD rom I had. The truck cab came from a free site where I sometimes find decent models. I don't mind building my own models but with motor vehicles that already exist, why re-invent the wheel? Especially if someone else has already built a decent motor vehicle model? I built a 1974 Chevrolet van and a 1967 Cadillac Coupe Deville that I hope to show in future uploads. The aircraft shown here is a Lockheed L-1011 on final which is what inspired the image title. A parked 727 which is being painted, and next to it but barely visible is a Lockheed Constellation. The L-1011 is actually a DC-10 that came with LW3D. I altered the tail engine ducting in my Aura paint program. The 727 is a Poser model that I bought at the Poser content Paradise but haven't seen on that site lately. I Made two versions of the 727. One version, the 727-100 which is the one shown here, and the longer 727-200 (In the defunct Eastern airlines livery) which I plan to show later. I found the Connie right here at Renderosity and made a junked version of it for this scene. I ended up not showing it very well but I will in a future image. The trees are collected from various old CD roms and some that came with LW3D. I do post processing of my GN images in Aura. The tress are very low poly objects that I rough up in Aura in order to make them appear higher resolution. I've used this technique for the past decade due to not having the latest versions of LW where hypervoxel trees can be made, or not having machines powerful enough to use hypervoxel trees. Now that I'm finally in the 21st century where computers are concerned. I will want to find a better method for doing my trees. The airport area, buildings, street lights etc. are all models I built in the mid to late 1990s.

Great start. Looks busy enough to be the low key end of an airport somewhere, non-descript charter aircraft too. And an intriguing truck as well. Good modelling
