Zan, Talur, Bali, Karu and Bezil’s Prehistoric World. Narrative: Zan and his new brothers followed Tarlock to an area that had the strangest machines all lined up in rows. Tarlock stopped in front of one the machines and his brothers began piling in. Zan was trying to figure out where the thrusters were. “You coming, son?” Tarlock asked. “What is it?” Zan raised his brow and asked. Zan’s brothers were now hanging out the windows of the machine and Talur said, “It’s our car, you bone-skull.” Zan crawled in and Turlock pulled out and onto a lonely road. Zan watched as the landscape sped by. He was fairly certain they were all going to die. The boy’s tired of hanging out the windows and turned their attention to Zan. The oldest, Karu, looked at Zan and asked, “Well, we can’t call you bone-skull forever, what’s your name?” “My name is Malice,” Zan replied. Talur’s hand flew up and covered Zan’s mouth then glanced at his father to see if he had heard. It was too late, father was watching them through the rear-view mirror. “He’s just kidding father. A dumb game. I’ll explain it to him. I promise he won’t say it again,” Talur said, nearly in a panic. Talur took his hand away from Zan’s mouth. The other boys were looking at Zan as if he were the dumbest demon on the planet. “Don’t ever do that again,” Talur instructed. “If an Enforcer, or anyone, heard you impersonating a Prince, you would be arrested and go to prison, especially now that Prince Malice is on the planet somewhere and has been chosen as the Flame of Demonia.” “Well, first of all,” Zan had started to say “I”, Malice isn’t a prince, he’s just one of the many House Lords.” Talur looked to his brother Bali, the bookworm, for help. “Did you read that in a Kitsune History book?” asked Bali. “The Kitsune have never understood Demonia Culture and their books are a joke to read.” Karu, the oldest, added, “And Prince Malice is the greatest Prince to ever live since Prince Vengeance. We all saw how he risked his life in the most amazing rescue ever to save his brother, Prince Mischief.” Zan could see admiration in Karu’s eyes that bordered on fanatical. “He’s better then Prince Vengeance,” Bezil, Bali’s twin, interjected. “Prince Malice opened his own shield, knowing he would die, and gave Prince Mischief all his air.” “And lit the forbidden-flame,” Bali added. “He’s the bravest Prince ever, he spit in the face of the Kitsune and their forced ban against the forbidden-flame.” “You have to swear never to say something like that again,” Talur pleaded. Zan saw Tarlock watching with interest through the mirror. “Father, I apologize for saying I was Prince Malice. It was a poorly thought out joke.” Tarlock nodded and simply said, “Very well then.” Zan turned to his new brothers and said, “My name is Zan, will you forgive me?” “Three days ago, no, we wouldn’t have,” said Karu, “but the Flame of Demonia has shown us what it means to be brothers.” “Why is the Flame of Demonia so important?” Zan asked. It was Tarlock that answered, “Son, The Flame of Demonia is the spiritual leader of our people. There can only be one living Flame of Demonia at a time. The last one was Prince Vengeance. He led Demonia into the Age of Vengeance that we are currently in.” Tarlock pulled the car into a cavern and Zan’s brothers jumped out. “Come on, Zan” yelled Talur. “I’ll show you our room. Zan crawled out of the car and thought to himself, ‘oh no, what have I done?”
