Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Great texture at first sight I saw the image of a Guitar

I saw the guitar too, and a key, and a hook. Mostly that thick, thick texturing. Wow. I never get tired of seeing this sort of thing.

like a page from an atlas, beautiful decay

This is where it started for me as a kid with abstraction, the natural decay and change of surfaces, in this case rust.. I love it. I can see two images appearing to me, the central aspect is rather like someone's foot coming down and stamping and breaking an object under the shoe/trainer. This other is in the top-right corner, rather like the head of a dog laying down with it's muzzle resting on the floor... dachshunds, rather like how David Hockney depicts his pet dogs.

OHH! Yes, I will be sorry too, as then we wont get to see any more of such gorgeous shots as this from you, Andrea.

Such interesting colors and textures. A great one, once again, Andrea.

Years of it there, paint and rust, great textures and I agree about new replacements, we as a society have forgotten about aesthetics and go for the cheaper plain stuff. The Victorians were far more appreciative of crafted design IMHO.

Great color and texture.

Wonderful textures and colours :)

Love this stuff with all of those juicy rich textures, but didn't you post this post just a little while back? The peeling posts I photograph aren't old enough to have been painted this often.

I really must wear my glasses when reading titles. I missed the 'L' in the first word. I see a muddy river flowing through a green landscape. Pictures like this really fire the imagination.

Lovely textures and the different layers of colors!

What a lovely state of rust.

I'm sure your neighbors shake their heads when they see you going up close with the peeling paint; but oh, what a payoff for a seemingly-odd obsession! Beautiful abstract!

Great texture here
