Description

There are the Star Trek, Star Wars, vampire and other iconic movie characters that are often done by 3D hobbyists from time to time. I chose to do a Hollywood horror icon, "The Creature From The Black Lagoon" (CFTBL). I wasn't sure what gallery to post this image in because the creature is a Poser human model I heavily modified and exported to Lightwave. I built a separate head in Lightwave and Sculptris. In final renders, I have to paint in details such as the fins on his forearm, his head gills, claws and other details because I didn't finish the model. Of the so called Hollywood classic monsters Frankenstien, Dracula, Wolfman and the CFTBL. The creature is the only one who has not had a movie remake done. Even King Kong and Godzilla were remade. It hasn't been for lack of trying. A CFTBL remake was in the works until it collapsed in 2011 after a decade of debacle. Director changes, a writers strike...every excuse imaginable prevented this remake. The last being, the remake of the Wolfman did poorly at the box office. Here, the creature has just boarded a boat in the rain, stubbed his toe talon and gets mad at the 270 pounds of weights. If I were doing a remake, I'd have the creature be taller by a foot or so (My model was scaled to an 8'4" height). Otherwise, he would be left largely as he appeared in the original movie trilogy. Godzilla 98 did poorly in part because of the massive rework of the monster. They should have just called that monster something other than Godzilla.

Nice work on the monster. Might give the render a little more light so he can be seen better.
