Description

A follow up from the Osprey nest. The larger Osprey on the left is the female adult and she kept a watchful eye on me. The females have a group of black spots that look like a bib at the base of her neck. The two smaller ones are her chicks. The immature chicks have white tips on their feathers. The male adult was on a rooftop watching the third chick on a flying lesson. A full grown Osprey is 22 t0 25 inches (56 to 64 cm) long and they have a wing span of 58 to 72 inches (147 to 183 cm). They are very stream lined in flight and their diet is mostly fish. Photo taken two days ago in Falmouth, on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Most information from the National Geographic Society Field Guide of Birds of North America. Do zoom for details. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana
