My corporeal form lives with my wonderful wife and six eccentric cats in beautiful Sedgefield, but my dreaming body is frequently elsewhere, exploring the fractal universe and marveling at nature's chaos. I love traveling to places that exist only as mathematical constructs on my computer and bringing back snapshots that sometimes remind me of the real world (whatever that means), sometimes of metamagical worlds we can visit only in our imaginations. I trained as a biologist and run a small company specialising in science publishing - writing, editing, illustrating and typesetting. For 3D world building I use Vue, Daz Studio and Poser, but I've also used Bryce since version 2 and done some work with Terragen, Carrara and Groboto. For technical illustration I use mainly Illustrator and Photoshop.

I didn't remember the warthog part when I commented on the book cover---that would explain the bumps on his face. Again, a dead-on likeness of the description. (The description is very vivid, too. Kudos to the writers.) You have him blended with his environs perfectly---he seems made of stone. (His camouflage coloring.) I like how you have him lunging forward, out of that vast canyon (colored like he is). Very dramatic position. And the shadow/lighting is dramatic too. I can't tell if he's wholly disconnected to the ground, or if he's got one foot on the ground: But he's definitely in motion. When I first saw this, I wondered if there were many like him in these peaks, but the peaks seem empty of all life---and they're craggy, grand and looming, with more of your subtle atmospherics in the background. (You may be interested in this, assuming you don't already know it: In digital photography, that kind of atmosphere has receded to a degree, because digital lends itself to stronger contrasts, vividness, etc. Whereas in film, that kind of atmospherics work beautifully. It's always a joy to see digital photography with those atmospherics. The Renaissance painters made a point of allowing atmosphere to fade the background---a point I've probably made in your gallery before, due to your beautiful atmospherics---in contrast to many medieval paintings, where background was often in equal focus to foreground. Your atmospherics are one of your beautiful traits as an artist.) More of your subtly done landscape, and a desolate one at that. And I still say he must be fun to make, not only to see how closely you can follow the literary description, but to create him with as much panache as you can. A wonderful wild realization, and dramatically placed and composed in the piece. (Btw, I wonder of sci-fi creators ever create environs that change colors to match the creatures in it, rather than the other way around. As if the environs need protection too.)
