Description

This is the last of the illustrations I did for the "Season of Predators" novel. "Gorrel looked like a monstrous escapee from a horror movie. He had seen lots of huge insectoids in his time, but this one resembled nothing he had ever come across or heard of. It made him think of a cross between a gigantic ant, a praying mantis and some unknown bug. The head resembled that of a mantis, and swiveled on a short neck that was attached to an unbelievably big chest, which in turn was connected a huge belly with a chopped-off-looking behind so that it could walk upright on four legs. It was about four meters tall; or long, he corrected himself. Four arms were attached to the chest section and could reach sideways, to the back as well as to the front. It was huge; he was sure that it weighed more than a metric ton. It's entire body looked as if it was made out of shiny, highly polished, deep-green tinted metal armor-plating." Nicely done! Great rendering of the described character, and I like the action scene. At first I thought the girl looked too relaxed for what was going on, but then I remembered she's a shape shifter and probably doesn't need to get into a warrior-weapons sort of stance. The guy is perfect. Focused and ready. Great scene!
