Description
How green was my valley.
Captured back on 5/10/10, at beautiful Legg Lake in the beautiful Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in not-so-beautiful South El Monte, California.
Catching up on my old pics.
Now this was taken two days before my previously posted photos of the lake, when it was sunny and relatively windless. On this one, it was partly cloudy with a steady breeze that day, which created a pattern of ripples upon the water, resulting in this sinuous effect. A bit dramatic, I would say.
And even better via ZOOM.
It's been a while, but I think this section is around the middle of the lake.
Ciao, baby, and have a nice day.

Isn't it amazing how different a little bit of wind can make it look? A lovely rippling capture, Harry, you did GOOD! Sorry this is late, I had a migraine last night so had to skip any computer usage!

I can't do my usual numbers this morning (but you know I'll be back for more throughout). But there are many I still want to do, and this was one. You've tackled the difficult subject of a body of water, a bit of land (atop), and no sky. I'm a big fan of that, and also know it's a hard subject. Here, it's scintillating and musical and natural as can be. It's minimal, but within that minimalism is a lot of activity: The study of ripple forms, of the morph from brighter to darker hues (in the water, top to bottom), in the rhythms of grass, and then the trees. And it's very peaceful, for all that rhythm. I like that you show this lake in many pov's, in this series: But with this, we're right in the thick of it. I think this is marvelous, done without flaw, and very respectful of your subject. I love this shot.
