Fascinating capture showing nature in all it's many ways, the good the bad and the ugly. The spider is only doing what it must to survive, I guess we all have to in different ways, there is always something higher up the food chain so the spider does not have it all it's own way. It's al fresco dining is not without it's own risks that it must take each time it select from the menu that arrives on it's flower.

It looks almost to big for it, well spotted.

Nature, red in tooth and claw, marvelously captured in this stunning pic, A. It took a while for me to distinguish the translucent spider from the rest of the image, but I finally did it. And I won't even attempt to question of the significance of what you mean by a gatekeeper. Surely, not the frail butterfly, unless that's its authentic name.

Incredible timing Andrea and I can't believe that your crab spider took down a butterfly! If it were not for a zoom - I would not have spotter her even though she was in your title!
