Description
Cades Cove loop road:
From early May until late September each year, the loop road is closed to motor vehicle traffic on Wednesday and Saturday mornings until 10:00 a.m. to allow bicyclists and pedestrians to enjoy the cove.
The 11-mile one way road, is a popular bicycling area. It provides bicyclists with excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and touring 19th century homesites. And the occasional black bear sightings ... :)
Tony (Tball2004) you made the comment on my last post and said that in no way could you bike the loop around the cove and survive, well believe me the first time I tried it I thought I would never make it, but I just stopped a lot along the way and rest and take lots of photos. And have a snack I usually take some cucumber slices and a granola bar and a little bag of M & M's and water of course.
Oh the best part the little country store at the end sells some great ice cream, so I figure its a nice treat to my self for finishing. This last time though all I wanted to do was get back to my car and get out of the rain.

Hard to tell but that is a wild turkey walking across the road in the bottom left photo there were five of them that crossed right in front of me... they are quick though so I could hardly get a good photo.

Such an adventurous lass but it paid off big time. These pictures are beautiful. Cades Cove goes into my bucket list. Do they rent bikes there? As for the rain, you can buy a motorcycle rain suit. They are light weight, warm and very comfortable. There is also rain gear available for your camera. No need to let a good shower go to waste.

It's so pretty! When I was much younger I used to bike 25 miles around the lakes in Minneapolis every night. It was pretty and not hard to do at all, since they all have bike paths. I don't think I could do one lake now!
