Description

Sculpture of the first water. Trimmers can be artists too! Captured 7/30/13, early AM, on the premises of a gas/service station just off of a freeway offramp, about a mile from my hallowed haven. I would have taken a full front shot of this labor of love, but it was partially hidden by a large sign post, so I sneaked behind for these POVs. There are a very few out in Renderosity (i'm tempted to name one) who feel this form of bush trimming is blasphemous anathema, but I like it a lot. In fact, I have tons/tonnes of topiary pics in my files, not as original or ornate as this one, but still neatly sculptured. Also, note the exorbitant price of gasoline/petrol. Now then, that is blasphemy. Ta-ta, baby, and have a nice day.

Wow, your prices are way higher than ours right now...I hope ours don't go up to match yours. Wonderful shots of this beautifully manicured hedge, Harry; I like a good topiary, and this is well done!

wow, this is very cool and i happen to think topiary is pretty amazing. I mean, if you're gonna trim the shrubbery, you might as well give it some interest!!

This is a great idea! I have to admit.. They should do it more here instead of pulling hedges UP! Excellent Harry! Rob

I thought I'd commented on this, but apparently not! Ok...First, kudos for the shot-material itself, it's a sight most worthy of shooting, and most unusual. Second, kudos for getting such full shots by standing to each side (and that close). (Sometimes you want to bring in a crew and just move signs like this...I've wanted to move buildings sometimes...) Third, kudos for the clarity of both shots---you got all the greens, yellows, rust-browns, and light and shadow of this crazy wild carving. Fourth, you cropped it so the bushes are the mass of the shot, right in the center like a big boulder. It's an imposing, fun, detailed, and wild capture; and you've certainly shown us examples of topiary here; all of which have been a blast. You even got the station name in both shots (on signs that is, separate of the bushes). Vivid and sharp and lots of fun. An eye-grabbing capture.
