Description
Zoom in for the best clarity!
Every day brought sadness, so few ever brought pleasure
That she woke or got out of bed, regret she could not measure
To leave the circus, what others called life
Was all she thought of, by day and by night
Having become wary of life and continually giving
She decided it best, to give up and cease living
Not a reward in her job, or the love of a man
Nor children she birthed to hold in her hands
Youth fleeting, love unfounded, hope fleeting
She stood in the pit angrily pleading
That the dirt should fall in, encasing her there
This life brought no joy, she could no longer bear
The moonlight swept wide as morning grew near
She woke with the sun and the birds singing could hear
From the dirt she arose to a future still uncertain
Yet for another day, there would be no final curtain
Days drew along but gradually lightened
One day she realized her outlook had brightened
Then one day came love, and a partner for life
A handsome young man that made her his wife
Soon followed children, first two girls then one happy boy
She found the career as mother she wanted, full of great joy
She can never imagine all those days in her past
She so desperately wanted each one to be last
Sometimes things change for the better, sometimes they don't. Nobody knows where the next curve in the road leads, but will we ever know if we elect not to follow it?
Sometimes hope springs eternal, sometimes it fades away to smouldering coals. The one thing to remember is that as long as there is something still smouldering, it can always come back to being a roaring fire.
Have a wonderful evening.

Very powerful image and poem/story. I think I stated it here before that when we look ahead in life there are so many choices; some good & some bad, BUT! when we look back we see a straight line from birth to now. You are so right in that we should give life a chance, each and every day. I say that if you can wake up, stand vertical (or near equivalent) breathe and (really my own words) not have a desire to eat brains, it's a great day to be alive. most outstanding work my dear friend. you bring out emotions and situations that a lot of people shy away from. Keep up the great work!!!!

The image is beautiful, realistic and very well done. Excellent camera angle. Great idea to put the woman in a pit whose green color evokes mold. The poem is beautiful and I read it to the end, even though I knew very little English. But the first part seems very pessimistic and the second describes a dream of happiness that feminists condemn. It reminds me that in Germany they once called "three K": "Kinder, Küche, Kirche", "children, cooking, church." Great work anyway, interesting to look at and read!
