Description

HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes for Wayne (Whaleman) and Jean-Claude (Jean_C) Thank you all for the many birthday greetings and yes, I am now 71 years old now. To answer questions. The official information booklet states that 93-year-old Aunt Jess Guernsey was out in the woods fishing when she found the Flume Gorge. She must have been in great shape to have climbed up there 130 years ago. This is a good look into the Flume Gorge itself. This photo was taken as we hiked up toward the source of the water. Inside the Gorge itself, with the roar of the water, I could not talk to the people that were there with me. All that water rushing through the narrow gorge was a thrill to see. Lots of mist in the air and we had to keep the camera lens covered while we were not taking photos. Wikipedia says: The Flume Gorge is at the base of Mount Liberty in Franconia Notch State Park, New Hampshire, US. Cut by the Flume Brook, the gorge features walls of Conway granite that rise to a height of 70 to 90 feet (21 to 27 meters) and are 12 to 20 feet (3.7 to 6.1 meters) wide. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Wow, wonderful capture of this impressive place, Dana ! In France, we know such a place called "abîme de Bramabiau" which is also very interesting to visit, I remember also the roar and the fog !

My belated birthday greetings. I've got mixed feelings about this wonderful scene. On the one hand I'd love to be there, but on the other I don't fancy falling into the water by accident!
