Description
Those of you who have visited my gallery have seen Gabe here before. When I first met him he was 24 and typical of many young American men. A sterling product of the American educational system, he thought the United States had fought Vietnam in World War II. He spent his money as soon as he got it and exhibited an exaggerated macho bravado which, I believe, masked serious feelings of insecurity. I used to joke that he was the son I never wanted. Shortly after we met he was laid off his job.
Thirteen years later he is gainfully employed, owns two homes and is a captain in the United States Army Reserves. Losing his job was the best thing that ever happened to him. He also knows it was the Japanese not the Vietnamese.
A little over a year ago he signed up for a 10K run in Seattle. The officials paired each participant with a companion, sort of a jogging buddy. His partner was Heather.
So what happens when a macho man from Southern California meets an Indiana farm girl? He turns into a big, soft bag of goo. Gabriel once broke up with a girlfriend because she had two children. He said he was not going to raise some other man's children. Last week he sent me an email where he referred to Heather's little girl as "my daughter".
Here is a picture of the happy couple on their recent visit to California to meet Gabe's parents and friends. The goofy kid on the left is Gabe. The pretty blond on the right is Heather. I may be planning a trip to Washington state soon but I have no idea what I will get as a gift.

A wonderful story with a happy end. A man must find his love, then everything else makes sense. The two are a wonderful couple and I wish them all the best. A cozy pub ... cheers!

And has his turning into a "big, soft bag of goo" led to him drinking a shandy while she drinks a Guinness? That looks like a shandy anyway. I used to drink them, because I really don't like beer (I don't like carbonation) and the ones I got were beer and apple juice which cut down on the carbonation. Wonderful capture of a great couple. Beautiful lighting on both them and the rich wood around them. There is a great feeling of relaxed fun, both in their expressions and the warmth of their surroundings. Very entertaining story.

Great story, good to hear of a happy ending and that in the end hard work does pay off for some. good luck to your friends. A gift how about taking them out for some nice portrait shots that they can have forever and you can include the daughter of course.

I'm bummed that the story seems to be missing. I don't know if it's the new format or if you changed your post ... but at any rate, I like the picture! They seem to be happy together, and comfortable with you. :) Nice people! (Bill just looked over my shoulder and said, "oh! who's that?" I said, "it's Gabe and Heather." Then I had to fess up that it wasn't anybody he's supposed to know.) :P
