I looked at the Afrikaans/English and English/Afrikaans google translate. There is no english translation for vetkoek. Dumplings in afrikaans is kluitjies. Something very different from Vetkoek.God bless.

Yes, dumplings are not made with bread dough that is kneaded and allowed to rise. Just the same, my dumplings would go very nicely with that stew, as would my corn fritters!

This looks nice and i am sure your vetkoeks are great with this stew. Your vetkoek look more like Berliner Pfannkuchen, Boiled in oil just we eat them with raspberry jam and they are dipped in suger. :)
