Description

I have started a series of quick sketches of "Lord of the Rings" characters. I froze the frame from the movie DVD on my tv and painted it from scratch on the computer while looking at it. I painted this image on Fractal Painter with a wacom tablet, in about 10 minutes. More to follow soon.

I can't imagine putting out a piece in 10 minutes, especially one this good, but you certainly have done it. Gandalf is one of my favorites...mostly because when I draw I love the character lines in his face. So much is displayed in them. Great job!

Now this is very good. I like the quick brush stroke effect! Very good grasp of the lighting on his hair and beard. Well done.

I don't know what was up with me when I drew my lotr sketches a few months back... a muse must have been right behind me or something. I haven't tried painting one of these sketches with this technique since. I should try again, to see if I can still pull it.
