Description

Here's another angle of the cicada larva empty shell, which was hidden under a rhubarb leaf (i was harvesting my rhubarb to make rhubarb preserve, as usual)... :) It is amazing how much detail these have. The dirt on it is from being underground, as the larva stays underground until it is time to dig itself up, to climb on something like a tree - or in this case a leaf - and get out as a cicada, leaving the shell behind. The only "damage" to this shell was as usual a clean slit on the top of the back (from where the cicada extracts itself from it), as you can see on this shot. The shell is not reflective, and it is translucent and transparent in places (eyes...). MUCH better in full view... just saying. ;) Comments welcome, thanks for looking! :) Previously: "Cicada shell"href> thumb_2467326.jpghref>

Great photo, though lacking EXIF, which is always useful for us "non-casual" onlookers :)

Thank you. :) I am trying to save good quality JPEG without being too heavy, and the EXIF data gets lost in the process. It is not important to me, as i am not a professional photographer anyway...
