I watch in horror as the child magically begins lifting Hayden's lifeless body into the air, I can't help but feel I made the wrong choice. Dark magic begins flowing all around her while the the look of sheer satisfaction grows on the evil ones face. Then I realize parts of her are fading out, she is disappearing! "What are you doing? WE HAD A DEAL!!" I panic, what have I done? The child turns to face me. "I agreed to save Hayden's life, I never said anything about her remaining with you while you retrieve the book." My heart breaks, I know better than to make deals with devils and now Hayden is going to pay for my mistake. "What happens if I can't retrieve the book, what happens to her then?" The smile that forms on his face gives me my answer long before his words. "I suggest you up hold your end of our agreement and bring me the book. It's best, young Hayden would surely be grateful I assure you. But if for some reason you decide to not honor our agreement...then let me be VERY clear, Hayden will endure levels of misery few humans can imagine. I will twist and torture her body in ways that will leave her begging for death but I will not give it. When she cannot take anymore and her physical self is destroyed I will then start on her soul which will make what she just went through seem like a stroll through the park. Do I make myself clear Tate? I'm speechless, I believe everything he has said. So I do the only thing I can, I nod. "Very good, I'm glad we understand each other." He begins to turn his attention back to Hayden, one thing still bothers me. "I have one last question?" He doesn't even turn and respect my presence he simply says... "Yes." "What I don't understand is why you don't get the book yourself? Clearly you posses the power to do so...so why rely on me?" Now he turns to face me. "I cannot retrieve the book, the tomb chamber in which it resides is heavily warded against one such as myself, however someone like you should have no troubles at all." "I see." "I have a question for you now. You are still quite some distance from the chamber so I wonder if you would prefer to continue searching for it on your own or if you like I can bring you to the hall leading to the chamber? that is as close as I can get. This will save you days if not a week of searching." A smirk forms in the corner of his mouth. "I could use this time to get to know Hayden better, I'm a patient man Tate. Either way works for me." He is rotten to the core and don't want him with Hayden a second longer than necessary. I accept his offer. "Bring me to the hall." "Excellent choice, most excellent indeed! I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." His words are nauseating. "We will never be friends...In fact someday I will find a way to kill you!" To my surprise he smiles. "HaHaHAHAhaha. Just bring me my book Tate. Oh, and one more thing. Don't be alarmed by the ancient magical devices with in the chamber, it is from an age long forgotten when magic was referred to as technology. It's best if you don't touch anything, it will be unlike anything you can imagine but just focus on finding the book, all that matters is the book!" The next thing I know I disappear.
