I wonder if He remembers the ivy. I like this sort of continuity, year after year. Nice! An old friend, indeed. :)

Tara, I have another show with green ivy leaves, but I chose this one. Thank you for commenting.

So must I, Andrea! I joined in 2003 and have only looked it though a couple of times. Thank you, my friend!

I vaguely remember of an earlier encounter with Mr.Boot in your gallery, how time flies ... nothing much really changes - maybe in another century? but what, if he was buried under ice and then re-discovered, what a surprise that would be for future generations ;) Although presently, this one reminds me of the size, befitted for a clown ! I do like the solitude of this image. BB

Brit, you may have definitely seen it before as I've been shooting him four years now. Every time I've got to find and dig it out of the tall weeds behind a derelict and half-ruined shack. Thank you!

Superb portrait...

Thanks a lot!

Generous old shoe, it was once a confort to tired feet and now it's a home to ivy... Like!
nikolais
Every August I find it in the grass, place in the crack between the wooden planks of the nearby shack, shoot, and then place it back to where it belongs. Thank you!

I can't believe I haven't commented on more of these, I saw them several times and had a million thoughts, yet as I go through these I see I didn't comment again and again. Lord. Well I'll do this in more than one session, I have a lot of things to say here. This is wonderful, first for the shoe obviously, in its total disarray as a shoe and its surrender to nature and decay. But even its decay is shoe-like---like what a shoe should look like as it ages beyond human use. And then you have total black background, which is perfect. And you have it on a rough bare fence (with terrific old fence textures)---and that's all there is. But because of that---the minimality---the textures of the shoe and fence stand out beautifully, because there's enough going on in them to balance out the minimality of subject material. Also, the curvature of the sole is in fine contrast to the straight line of the wood. Wonderful, Nikolay. I'll be back for more soon, I'm not done. But it's an amazing journey to sit with your work. I'm still learning and stretching from what you do---you're simply one of the most intuitive and constantly "fresh" artists I've known. You're always opening my eyes as if for the first time... I realize I haven't fav'd here: I just got wound up in the art and forgot. But look, a fav for it all: Not one is unworthy. )My fav's don't work well anyway, half of them don't show up; but I'd have fav'd them all if I'd remembered!)
