Description

Sympetrum striolatum at my pond. I am thrilled by the increase in the number of pairs this year. I am not quick enough to get them in the act of laying, but it is fascinating to watch single males interfering and attempting to put them off and steal the lady.

It is such great and also spectacular to watch these Darters, huh. They are so active now by all the sunshine. I saw many today flying and hunting, but never sitting still. Just flying around with three stuck together. A beautiful moment and capture, Andrea.

That would be about the only time I could get near to them.

Wow, I've seen a lot of bizarre mating positions - actually humanwise speaking - but, at my age, this is one I sure wouldn't want to try myself. My back is in bad enough shape as it is. As always, love the texture of the wings.

Absolutely no shame whatsoever. They are an acrobatic bunch though. I wonder if they've read the Kama Sutra?

That is a great shot of a configuration which isn't in the Kama Sutra.

An amazing capture, you have a great collection of the more intimate moments of insects which are not easy to be there when the situation unfolds, let-alone capture with such detail. Nice work.
