Description

For this picture, I climbed 298 steps high for you (muscle soreness incl.* LOL *) on the Victory Column - to get these views - the "Gold Else". Berlin you will not recognize when you come next year. A city on the rise! You look at the Cathedral of Berlin, the red city hall, Hotel Adlon, the Tiergarden, and of course the Brandenburg Gate. I'm looking at you, Gitti! Julchen

Großartiger Ausblick! Eine Stadt, die niemals aufhört sich zu verändern. Ich war das letzte Mal vor 26 Jahren in Berlin, da stand die Mauer noch. ;-) Wird Zeit, dass ich das ändere.

I love change: I love new additions, I love all things old and all things new - what is there not to love ? I can't wait to see my beloved Berlin again - despite progress, that's inevitable and I don't mind, in fact I am looking forward to it, sooooooo much !!! You have no idea, Julchen ... When I visited Berlin in 1999, I counted precisely 48 huge cranes, all building sites and that was unbelievable then! I was walking around like in a daze, aimlessly or so it seemed - but I was breathing 'die Berliner Luft', I wouldn't wan't to miss it for the World! and this is "the other City, that never sleeps " ... 'Ich hab noch einen Koffer in Berlin' - in the truest sense of the words - tausend Dank my dear friend ... BB PS - here are a few words from my own 'reservoir' of thoughts, I hope you like it ? ;P 'The eyes paint the picture and the hand only guides it - but the mind and the soul sells it, it travels with us like an old friend'

A supreme effort for a magnificent view. Personally, I dislike highrise buildings - love the old.

298 steps! So much for women being the weaker sex. You must have legs the size of Serena Williams! Worth the effort, a spectacular image. The Cathedral of Berlin is very impressive. 298 Schritte! So viel für Frauen als das schwächere Geschlecht. Du musst Beine die Größe Serena Williams! Die Mühe lohnt sich, ein spektakuläres Bild. Der Berliner Dom ist sehr beeindruckend.

The lack of coordination due to having been divided plus a lack of foresight. Other capitals have special zoning to protect the visual impact of their historic edifices. Not so Berlin - what a shame.
