Description

This formation is called "The Needles" for obvious reasons. It is located in Custer State Park, in the Black Hills of South Dakota. This region has some of the most spectacular scenery I've ever seen! The formations here have an almost alien feeling - no wonder the native Americans that lived here long ago believed even the rocks had spirits. We'll be leaving tomorrow on the 2 day journey back home. We've already decided a return visit is a must-do! Thanks for dropping by! I'll be doing a little commenting tonight, but probably won't get completely caught up until we've been back a few days. I will get to all your wonderful art, though. Thanks for your patience! I'll be posting a lot more photos once I get back to my computer with Photoshop CS6 - I've been shooting in RAW on this trip with my Canon, and I'll be processing a bunch of photos once we get back. So more will be forthcoming! And of course, I'll be getting back to the T.N.A. Girls' adventures. Speaking of which.... While I was taking this photo up in the mountains today, a convertible car zoomed by where we - and a bunch of other tourists - were parked. One guy commented that "they must either live around here, or have no idea what they are about to encounter" (the mountain road where we just came from was very winding, and at one point has a sheer drop off - and no guard rail). Someone said there were two girls in the ragtop vehicle.... A redhead, and a brunette with short hair. Makes me wonder.... (and no, I'm not making this up..)

If it WAS your girls in that convertible, I'm sure they'll be fine. Ranpha probably outfitted it with booster rockets or something. :P This is totally cool! We need to get back to that area in the spring and make a few stops we've missed before. Having a cousin in Rapid City means we visit a lot and forget to go out and see the sights!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! What an awesome shot Rod! Truly a beautiful area indeed! Well, if those two chicks WERE G4 and Arawen, I'm sure they made it OK. If not ... I only hope so! :-)
