Description

My attempt to create a good forest within Carrara. I decided to go with an unconventional composition. Mainly because I wanted the character to be less dominant and preferably noticed more as an afterthought. For me the main character in this image is the forest. The image I am uploading is of very low quality in order to comply with the size limit. Comments and critique are very welcome! As always. Thank you for stopping by. Credits: - V4 is wearing a crazy mix shader that uses several different character maps (Elite Lana, Reby Sky, Silver’s Fawne and Surreality‘s Ashe) - V4 with Silver’s Fawne morph. - Hair is Esidor Hair by 3Dream and Mairy. - Horns are from Creature Creator Bundle - Terrain, water, pebbles, rocks, log, ferns and shrubs are from HowieFarkes’ Stone Creek - Pin Oaks and Pin Oak branches for replication are from HowieFarkes’ Country Lane 2 - Big trees, tree bridge and tree groups are from Stonemason‘s The Enchanted Forest. - Butterflies are a freebie by Age of Armour.

Thank you for your comments! I can answer your why. I didn't want the forest to be too deep and I wanted the arc to lead the eye to the character, eventually (maybe too soon?)... I also wanted the horizontal tree to be a sort of a barrier, to have a sense that what lies beyond it is somewhat forbidden and mysterious. And to have that hidden forbidden mystery add a bit of the shock to the proximity of the creature. Now, what I intended doesn't really matter if the result doesn't work, so these reasons don't excuse the problems. They just explain that I did have an answer to that "why" :)...

Don't worry about the quality. You cannot really tell. Excellent forest. Did you tweak the Carrara trees or make these from scratch?

I am not sure what you mean. As you can see in the credits, I used a lot of base objects, but I changed most of them. If you are asking about modeling, I don't like to model things if I can help it. I prefer to morph, combine, take apart, re-shade, reshape, replicate and otherwise mess around with what's already there, instead of staring at the blank space and trying to make something out of it. Maybe if you can clarify your question, I could answer it better...

Another beautiful image. I love the light rays through the trees, but forests are always so cool yet mysterious just like your picture suggests. D

You are right, the main subject is the forest and you have done it wonderfully here, especially the light filtering down through the trees And the character adds a nice mysterious element. Excellent all round!

Fantastic! It's like the little sprite jumps out at you from nowhere! I was looking at the nice forest and then all of a sudden, there's this little face :-)

Thank you! It's great to hear from you. I've been wondering how you've been. I haven't seen any images posted here in a while. Do you post do DA more often (do you have an account there?)?
