It had been a long week for Melanie, and she finally made it home to relax for the weekend, yet before she could even get out of her work clothes came knocks upon her door. First it was a delivery, then the girl scouts selling cookies, then the neighbor asking if she had a phone book they could borrow. She finally had an opportunity to change into sweat pants and about the only top she had left that still fit her growing body and settled into a chair to watch TV when another knock came at the door. She cried out; "I'll be right there!" and struggled to get back up on her feet again. Much to her surprise about the last person she expected to see that evening was standing there; Jack. She swung the door open and asked; "What are you doing here?" Jack smiled and said; "I just happened to be in the neighborhood and remembered there was this really cute pregnant girl who lived in this building and was wondering if she had dinner yet." Melanie just stood there with a stunned look on her face and said; "But I thought you wouldn't be able to come for another three weeks?" "Well, after your mother called me, I figured it was more important to make a minor change in the original plans." explained Jack. "But I'm fine, really," Melanie pleaded, "It's the weekend and all I'm going to do is relax and a bit of shopping on Sunday, that's it." I'm sure you were," said Jack, "But this weekend, you're staying off of your feet as much as possible -- doctor's order." "Now, how about that dinner, have you eaten yet?" Melanie was still a bit dumbstruck but could only say; "I'm still full from lunch. Everyone keeps taking me out for lunch, and if I refuse to go, they bring me something back to eat; even when they know I brought a lunch." "Just as well, I guess," said Jack as he picked up his bag and walked in the door; "I ate on the plane, and it just means that you can get back off of your feet." "How about a hug first?" requested Melanie. Jack set down his bag and tried to wrap his arms around her, as she attempted the same, uttering; "I bet you didn't expect me to have become so big already, did you?" "You've been sending me pictures, remember, and by the way, thank you." said Jack. "I enjoyed every photo, and have noticed that the past month or so you've really grown; are you certain we're not having twins?" Melanie replied, "I'm certain, I've seen the ultrasound; I'm sure it's all those lunches I mentioned." "I guess those double lunches would do that," said Jack, "But you still look amazing to me." "Well, you're lucky this time," said Melanie as she blushed at his remarks, "Because if I wasn't this big or pregnant, I'd have jumped on you when I opened that door." Jack jokingly replied to her; "Well, maybe tonight you can just let me hold you until you fall asleep." Melanie chuckled and said; "Why, as I recall, that plan worked out quite well last time." As Jack found out that night, that same plan worked out quite well for Melanie that night too. It was a good thing it was the weekend too; they both needed a day to recover.
