I didn't plan on a follow up to last nights image, but here it is anyway! Jack had moved off for his new job, and Melanie had gone on with life without him; but also with the one growing inside her. Jack had tried to keep in touch, though his work schedule on his new job kept him quite busy. On occasion he would drop an email to former friends and Melanie, but none of them openly came out mentioning that Melanie had appeared to be pregnant. Most of them suspected she was, and that perhaps Jack might have been the father, but nobody wanted to spill the news under the circumstances, and not knowing for certain either. However, one day when he had written a friend, he asked about Melanie and how she seemed to be doing. The friend responded that they thought she must have taken the changes at work quite hard, she seemed to put on some weight in the past couple months. Jack was rather alarmed when he had read this, but it was already too late to have called her to check on her, so as soon as he had time where he could catch her at a reasonable hour, he made it a point to call her. It had actually been the first time they talked since he left, but he kept asking if she was okay, and she kept assuring him she was fine, though when asked about her weight admitted that yes, she had gained some weight; but she was fine - really. Jack told her he had some time off coming in a couple months and was hoping to visit; asking if there was a chance to relive their final evening the way it should have gone. Melanie liked that idea, but did secretly worry about that as it would be more than obvious that there had been an important development being kept from him. They continued talking for a while though, and he said he'd be in touch to let her know more about when he might be able to come back to town. He could hear the happiness in her voice, as she said she would be looking forward to it. Melanie then said she best let him go and that she would be in touch soon, saying; "I'll drop you an email soon and tell you all that's going on; but don't worry, everything is fine." With that they bid each other a good night, each expressing they missed each other too. Melanie had a big decision to make now. How does she tell him he's going to be a father? How does she justify not telling him all this time? It seemed best to just be honest though, and since the next weekend was father's day, she would take her time and write it all out best she could. She didn't delay on starting her letter either, as she knew it would be difficult to write, and she had to be completely open and honest. It took her all week, but she managed to finish it, but before sending it, she attached a photo of herself; fully displaying her changed body so he would have no doubt she was now being honest with him. Since she wanted to be certain he didn't view the photo prior to reading the letter, she made the subject line, "Please read this first, Please!" The Saturday evening before father's day Jack sat down to check his email and seen the heading, and immediately opened her letter and began reading her words, as though he could hear her voice reading it to him. "I didn't want this news to come to you second hand, or as a surprise you discovered when you come to visit, so bear with me and allow me to explain why I kept this a secret this long." He kept an open mind and read, and reread every word to the very end; then viewed the photo she had attached. Jack felt nothing but joy, there was no other woman he'd every known that he could have seen himself having a child with; he only wished he could have shared that with Melanie years ago, so that maybe things would be different now, and they wouldn't be so far away from each other at that moment. He wrote her a quick note in return; "I completely understand, but I missed so much, I wish I could have seen your transformation as you look more beautiful than I could have imagined. Will see you soon, Love, Jack"
