Description

Our Spring in the Southern Hemisphere, starts as always, with the Sculpture Festival on Currumbin Beach, in the State of Queensland, in September. I will show you quite a few over the coming weeks and I hope, you won't tire of them, there will be a mix of day & night time shots ... enjoy the ride ;P # 01 ~ WATER BIRDS ~ by Jim Blower, NSW (material used: 20mm round forged iron bar) his own words: Conceived in the Pilbara, forged in The Byron Hinterland en route to warmer northern climates. When working through steel in art based objects, great care is essential in conveying a sympathy towards the medium. Using contemporary techniques I aim to create flowing lines and a concise development of movement in each element. Through considered transitions in physical connections and a playful use of the surrounding environment, I encourage a lasting memory of my pieces in situ. *** Cheers Brigitte

Great! It's that time again, I do enjoy these pics of yours. The artist is a bit serious with his words. The work is easier to look at!

Jim Blower created such smooth lines when you think about him using 20mm round forged iron bars. Cool how he added the eyes. A fantastic photo with that lovely skyline - maybe Brisbane or the Emerald City of "OZ"! :)

Sorry, Dana that isn't Brisbane, - it's the other end, the North-end of the Gold Coast with the highrisers at Surfers Paradise, while Currumbin is the South-end of the Gold Coast, good guess and pretty close! ;)

This Jim Blower is very well managed with what he wanted to achieve with his art. And you made the most beautiful picture of it, dear Brigitte. Such a fantastic view, and the background is so beautiful chosen. Hooray for you.

There are many reasons I really like the sculptures of the birds... First: one can see what they rapresent. Second they are very elegant in their shapes. Third: they aren't invasive, you can still see the panorama through them. Fourth: they are very well fitting in the scene... Err... I'd better stop here... I really like them... And I like How you composed the picture
