Description

On a recent vacation to Switzerland we took a drive over some mountain passes. I found it very impressive that people were living on such steep slopes up in the clouds. I only cropped the date stamp and re-sized for Renderosity specs.

OMG..... I'm assuming they don't have many avalanches here..... Amazing shot!

Hmm...good question. I think they control the avalanches and they also use fences. Since many of the homes have been there hundreds of years they must have some good way of protecting from that.

You've spoken about removing the "date stamp": I don't know the Sony, but I know that a lot of cameras have settings (in the camera) that allow you to remove the date-stamp before you take any pictures. (Whether you can, with your camera, I don't know, but I thought I'd mention it.) (My first outing with my present camera, I forgot to turn the date-stamp off, and the stamp showed up wayyyy up on the photo, and it ruined about 1000 photos. I screamed at my camera, later...) Another shot where you allowed atmosphere to breathe and bathe your whole image. Bravo. And your pov has no sky in it, so we see nothing but a deep falling mountainside in the background, which plunges into this beautiful valley. A fine choice. And the houses are like little model-houses stuck into the hillsides: With all that atmosphere, they're magical and beautiful. I'd be afraid to walk out the door of these houses, most days---unless I were verrrrry awake, and had reeeeeally good shoes. (I knew dear friends from the Himalayas in India, who lived at 8,000 feet/2440 meters, and they had houses stuck into the mountainside as well. The roads were thin as toothpicks...) We can also see clouds in this shot. You have a keen sense of space and how it interacts with your subjects. A beautiful atmospheric shot...
