Description


This is the port of Mykonos Town, also known as Chora. It is the original port of the city and now is often refered to as the 'old port', since a newer port has been created to allow cruise ships to anchor. Mykonos has been made famous by the Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis. It is now a major tourist attraction. Mykonos is one of the Cyclades Islands in the Southern Aergean Sea which have been populated since at least 5,000 BC. Mykonos' early inhabitants were the Carians, followed by the Anchient Egyptians, the Phoenicians, Cretans and Ionians (Sources: Lonely Planet, Greece, 1996, Wikipedia, Tour Guide)..
