Description
This was taken at Cape Blanco State Park. I was taking photos of the usual seashore subjects - seagulls, rocks, barnacles & such - & panning my camera when I saw this young raccoon among the rocks. I was about ten feet from him & he noticed me just about the same time I noticed him. He was feasting on what looked like a dead bird & didn't seem to mind my intrusion. He took his time, finished his meal as I snapped photos & then scampered off...

Sometimes we're in the right place at the right time. Great shot. Raccoons are the greatest of omnivores, and that's helped in their survival, I think.

Raccoons look very cute, but they can really get down to business if you mess with them!! A beautiful shot!

I'm imagining you taking pictures and scampering off. :P This is a super picture! I had no idea raccoons hung around at the shore. I think of them more as fresh water food washers, but that's probably because I lived for many years next to a stream, and when I lived at the beach I was much, much (much) younger and never noticed any there. They say the secret to a good wildlife shot is that little light in the eyes, and I must agree. You caught that perfectly, and this is an outstanding image!

Wow, how amazingly cool! I rarely see racoons any other way than dead in the road, although I'm told they brazenly stroll through my garden in broad daylight quite often while I'm at work. You got a wonderful capture of this fellow with his watery delight.

It was very kind form the raccoon to stop eating a strike you a pose. I really like the face!
