Description

After a great dinner at our favorite restaurant on the entire Oregon coast - Anna's By The Sea in Gold Beach, which features Nouvelle Canadian Prairie Cuisine - we drove north & were treated to one of the most spectacularly beautiful sunsets we've ever seen. I stopped at various points to take photos, but didn't have a tripod with me (I rarely use mine) & my photos don't do justice to the beauty of it, but I'm happy enough with them to post a few. They were all taken from the highway above Nesika Beach, which starts about 5 miles north of Gold Beach & continues for several miles. This is the first of them. I shot this one with my camera's "expressive mode", which intensified the colors nicely, but also caused the foreground to become a pure black silhouette. I was able to come up with a way to correct for that in the next photo which I will post tomorrow... Please zoom.

Gorgeous sunset & photo of it! So, what is "Nouvelle Canadian Prairie Cuisine?" Does it include fricassee of prairie dog?? Maybe French-fried cow pie??

I don't really know how to describe what "Nouvelle Canadian Prairie Cuisine" is, I just know that I like it (google "prairie cuisine" to get a rough idea). Anna's is a very small restaurant - just 4 tables & a small counter - run by two men who prepare the food with a lot of care right in front of you. Everything is fresh & tasty & they have a very nice assortment of cheeses & wines. And on Fridays they have live music.

I don't mind the black silhouette at all. It adds drama to an already fabulous bit of color! Gorgeous photograph. (Now I'm looking forward to seeing tomorrow's pic to see what you did!) :)
