Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I bet that's a yellow traffic stripe after many years of wear and tear, further enhanced by your digifiddling, A. I have similar shots vegetating in my files of street arrows and stripes, long forgotten in my thousands of pics.

Such a common sight around our streets no matter where we may find ourselves, here you have taken a mundane image we all know so well and created a genuine photographic abstract. This really answers what I have often said about things that are familiar and those familiar things we can turn into unfamiliar and allow them to take on a whole new experience for the viewer. You state what it is in the title but this idea has always been one of my favourites with photography and it's inexhaustible, when you go in tight it's opens up all kinds of possibilities. Nice work.

What an eye you have! You want to be careful you don't get run over during your dangerous photographic journeys!

My first impression was of a crowd of people trying to cross the street before the light changes. Great eye and excellent abstract/

Many just do not look closely at what is near. It is to be seen everywhere, nice shot!

I see a puppy dog on the left - heading left. On the right I see a snail with a shattered shell! Very cool road work!
