Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

A wonderful serene setting. I love that someone took some thought in designing the water tower.

I'm glad they've given the tower over to the bats! This is a great shot. Such a beautiful place!

I love the the look and design of the tower - the only thing missing are the Knights ;)) but it seems a sacrilege to leave it to the bats, here they are considered a pest, let me explain: info taken from the wikipedia ... Australian bat lyssavirus (ABLV) (initially named pteropid lyssavirus PLV) is a zoonotic virus closely related to rabies virus and is a virus that can be transmitted from bats to humans, causing serious illness. Our government is mostly trying to relocate them, because horses & dogs have also been infected and died or had to be put down. I hope, I haven't put you off your breakfast ? ;P *BB

All sorts of green textures and lighting effects dot this fine scenic shot, Andrea. Is that supposed to a small replica of the Tower of London?

Beautiful place

That's classy roosting! A great lead in and compo adds to the scene.
MrsRatbag
Wow, now you need to hang out at sunset and capture the bats leaving their roost for the night. What a shot that would be! Great stuff, Andrea!

A well camouflaged water tower - I bet the bats love it in there! A beautiful area of the gardens!

Superb capture Andrea. God bless.

Initially I thought it was some kind of folly, a nice peaceful capture, love the bridge too.

Beautiful picture... I love the trees in the background and their branches... Mmm... yes... the shape of the tower is shurely european, but the red bridge, the water and the whole composition remind me of some oriental garden... I don't know why...

I could find a space in my field for that one.
