Description
Top foto captured 10/23/13 in my condo, bottom two 9/6/13 on the street, early AM.
According to animal regulations, the pups in the bottom two pics should have been confined, or at least leashed.
I have dogs barking and growling at me all the time, but they are usually obscured behind a chain link fence, or hidden behind a high solid fence or wall, or moving about so rapidly that a decent photo is nigh impossible. They bark, snort, yap and breathe hard at all frequencies.
I think I may have more shots of this kind lost somewhere in my old files.
Cheerio.

Yes they all have their own unique character, I try talking to them & I think it makes them bark all the more.

the only thing they tell you is, do not come on our property. Stay there and do not LOOK at them, wait until they stop barking and then walk slowly further!! Nice doggy's !!!

Great captures here Harry, and none of them look very pleased.

johndoop: Sounds logical, but It's not their property when you're several yards/meters across the street from them. And really nice doggies come up you wagging their tail, give you a sniff, then lick your hand.

Cute shots!

Dad, you have always been popular with dogs. You just know how to set them off. My recollection was that you intently stare them down which drive them bonkers. LOL

Very lovely dogs my friend, amazing capture!

Maybe if you laid down on the ground with your belly up? I'd give anything to see that, LOL! Yes, these critters don't seem very happy to see you at all, Harry. But nonetheless they are excellent shots of these fierce canines. I'll bet they're really friendly after you get to know them.

Fancy owners letting their dogs roam the streets, the little spaniel & toy should be at home being looked after. Super captures!!!

Do all dogs bark at you mate?? lol I mean, they seem to... I recommend carrying a shotgun in future.. (Works for muggers and small kids as well lol) Neat shots! Rob

Very interesting Harry...sounds like racolt33 may have the answer:-) This is a fun post. Glad they stayed away from you.

(took a break, but I'm back...) love the responses here! Rob suggests/jokes about carrying a shotgun...but do dogs recognize guns---I mean, as guns? Unless they've been hunting, wouldn't a gun just look like a piece of metal? I have no idea. Denise suggests laying belly up, lol! Anyway, a delightful, scruffy collection, and kudos for sticking it out to get the shots. The first one gives mid-bark shots, I assume not easy to get. I really like that. Maybe you know this from your multiple experiences, but just in case you don't, when a dog barks but doesn't show his teeth, he's peeved but also curious...playing, studying, etc. Once his teeth show, you're in deep ___ and should head for the exits. (Or offer them money, free loans, whatever.) As I've learned it, teeth are dogs' equivalents of our fists, so when they brandish them, they're ready to attack. Also, the brown dog has his ears down---another sign of non-aggression, they say, because if the ears are perked and the body stiffened, that's usually a sign of fight-readiness. (If you know all this, disregard this whole comment...) In any case, a delightful capture of barking. The 2d one shows dogs doing their "check it out" pose, esp the front one---a semi "ready to pounce" pose, checking you out. And the third seems to say that the dogs are curious, but not ready to attack. (I know the front dog may have been calling 9-1-1, so don't quote me on this.) A delightful group of dog candids, and very clear considering you're capturing animals in motion. And it gives us a sense of what you encounter each day, a little "behind the scenes," which I appreciate. Fine slices of life, Harry... (server's still sputtering, which explains the extra ebots)
