Description
This is what remains of Bolton Abbey, originally founded by the Augustinian order in 1159 AD, The abbey was partially destroyed during the Dissolution in the reign of Henry VIII.
The Abbey is situated on the banks of the River Wharfe in the North Yorkshire Dales near Skipton.
The shot was taken in the late evening sun yesterday.
Thanks for taking a look, Rob

Beautiful capture of this wonderful Abbey, it is my favourite place in Yorkshire. I too nearly fell in when crossing the stepping stones many years ago as jayfar also did lol. Its a pity that they were underwater on this visit - maybe next time :)

A wicked King was Henry, in more than one way. The damage to beautiful religious buildings and their contents was devastating and another black time in our history, but it certainly makes for amazing view likes this one. I've visited many times in my young life. Stunning image Rob.

This looks like a glorious work of art and too good to be true - well, it was then and this is now ... trust good ol' Henry - maybe some of his wives (or mistresses ?) are buried there, you just never know ;P Simply, a sight to behold ! BB
