Description
This Great Egret was perched on the very top branches of a tree that we passed on our hike through Lema Ranch. I was fairly close & the tree wasn't that tall, so I was able to get a very clear shot. Though there was a lot of blue sky that day, the section of sky behind the egret was all cloud & after I made some brightness & contrast adjustments, became pure white. I briefly toyed with the idea of bringing in a different sky, but decided I liked the stark whiteness...

I like the white sky too; I might have even desaturated the whole thing to make it black and white, that would be really striking. Just a thought. It's a lovely shot of this beautiful bird!
