Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Great capture of some nice glass pieces, I remember when I was young watching a guy create them in a window, forget which seaside town it was now but I know many still do this.. it's a great skill... I Have a hedgehog and an elephant in the lounge.. glass that is, also have another interesting piece that I will capture at some stage soon.

I like the drama and the pov of the other shots best. Isn't it nice to be clearing things out?

Marvelous ambiance and reflectivity in this macro of the glass figurines, Andrea.

Very pretty pieces. This makes me a little wistful. My 91 year old stepmother has been doing something similar, cleaning out her home and lightening the load toward the end of life. A little piece of England will now be going to China and perhaps passed down to her children. Your student will not forget you.

In Venice there is a place called Murano Glass, where you can watch a guy making this kind of thing. They warn you first.........DON'T DON'T DON'T pick up the horse after I have finished making it.........it's still HOT!
