Description

The black-backed jackal is fairly common in the Kgalagadi. This is one of two "resident" jackals at one of the bore holes / water holes. They have given me many hours of entertainment as they "guarded their water" with much passion! Because there are no natural surface water in the Kgalagadi, the animals are concentrated close to the many bore holes along the two main river beds. Thank you for visiting and for your very welcome comments and favs on my last upload "Oryx (Gemsbok)". Carin xx

Great shot of the ever suspicious jackal, as it sips water from the stream, Carin. Your animal photos are immaculate, and a delight to behold.

Try saying that five times fast. Talk about tongue twisters. This is a great shot. She looks very much like one of our California coyotes.
