Description
A stark departure from my regular leaf pictures, captured 11/13/13, very early morning, on the sidewalk outside of my condominium complex.
Most ZOOMable.

L.A.C.E.C., hmmmmm, Los Angeles Civil Engineering Corps? Fascinating...crystal clear and sharp...just like I like them.

Crisp and clear, Harry; and I'm fascinated by the pattern of the manhole cover, all those little triangles...I could get hypnotized looking at them! Leaves and leaf shadows, another fun subject handled with your usual aplomb. Good work, my friend!

Crystalline, and washed in that early morning light that only you capture, which makes this piece about that light as much as about the shapes and shadows, etc. The greens of the leaves---yellow-greens, really---make wonderful contrast to their deep/sharp shadows, and to the jaundiced yellow of the light. And the sharpness of minutiae---the tiny pock marks in the concrete, the small and big lines in the sidewalk (small surrounding big), the many triangles on the manhole cover (with their shadows)---make this a very full shot even for such minimal content. And the clarity you get in shadow and shapes: They're razor sharp. Perfectly centered, a small jewel. (Should I do the leaves now? Ah, why not...) Few make a shot like this come alive; in your hands, it's an electric portrait.

It's been a while since my last visit, and before I get to your current page, I want to comment on a couple of favorites from this one. I loved this one from the moment I saw it. The textures, light, and shapes are wonderful, and ordinary scene, turned extraordinary by your skill. The leaves have a jubilance that sets them rustling in my mind. The bright yellow-green shines against the neutral background colors as do the natural shapes against the geometrical shapes of the manhole and its triangular patterns. This is very cool! I love it!
