Description

This will be my final contribution, of the sculptures from this years September Swell-Festival (!) I am finishing off with a collage of 8, otherwise I will be here until next year (BTW - there were a total of over 50!) ;P Time is working against me presently, as you may have noticed, the Christmas spirit is working overtime - simply everywhere !!! Picture this: "a Hot Roast Turkey" for Christmas Lunch? - no way, we say: "a Cold Seafood platter" instead and a cool Pavlova for desserts, plus ... YUM! Back to reality now - where was I ? before nodding off, from too much chocolate or champagne ... or both, soon ;)) *** I had to compromise some in size, with this automatic collage layout, but with a little imagination you will get the picture, pardon the pun ... and naturally a ZOOM is highly recommended ... they are not numbered - just read them like a book ;) # 01 - ODE TO HUEY (by John Fitzmaurice) ... dedicated to the fickle surf god Huey etc. # 02 - TOTEM (by Alex Polo & Michael Dowling) ... a picture is worth a 1000 words and every word made from a 1000 strikes. # 03 - SALTY PEARS (by Jilly Gray) ... reflecting life on the Gold Coast - salty pears and sandy feet ! # 04 - WARHORSE (by Wayne Markhorst) ... expressing the physicality of the horse as a symbol of hope and revolution etc. # 05 - SPIRAL TOTEM (by Craig Medson) ... creating sculptures that emit an aura of beauty, harmony, balance and peace. # 06 - SUNSHINE (by Kirsty Foley-Lewis & Matt Fischer) ... inspired by sunlight, sparkling through droplets of saltwater caught on eyelashes. # 07 - IRONMAN (by Claire Sewell) ... exploring the body and motion, inspired by Surf-Life- Saving etc. # 08 - CONCEPTION (by Eric Green) ... a simple stylised egglike form, evolved through the process of carving and shaping etc. *** Appropos - the thumbnail is the beautiful Currumbin Beach, Gold Coast, in Queensland Australia, with # 09, as the contribution by Anne Leon: "Fabulous Flying Fish" . *** Cheers Brigitte - ah yes, don't forget to ZOOM ;P

I like the War Horse. I have seen this type artwork in northern California. They were made out of driftwood - very impressive! A sweet collage and I would have trouble having to pick second place!

This sculpturen festival is Great. Here I would try to talk with some of the artists. My fav is clearly "Warhorse"!!!!!! I do not know why. But I always need something objective. Wonderful collage, my friend. Cheers Juli

I have admired five times again, and again, all this wonderful art, plus all of your beautiful photos, Brigitte. Every time I went back up, and clicked full size. I admire them so much. What a feast for the eyes. You will have enjoyed it on the beach. And I wonder that you do not see people in the pictures. If something like this was in the Netherlands, there would be too many viewers to make good pictures of it. Thinking of you, dear BB-chen, and hope to write you very soon.
