Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Interesting capture!
Star4mation
It casts the same shadow as the Gothic curtain poles in my house! Cool photo :)
Faemike55
very interesting shot one could almost imagine that the shadow gate leads one into a different dimension with unique challenges

Well spotted and shot Andrea.

Safety in conformity? But this does make a lovely shadow!

Great idea, fine capture of this shadow. I thought all property around that way was expensive?.

You make me wish I'd taken pictures for you of the gated and be-golf-coursed communities in Southern California. One after the other, each a mile square, all with walls and pass-card gates, each perfectly manicured and landscaped, and all the same. They're all named: Desert Cove, Esplanade, Mira Flores, Talante, Stone Creek, Palo Verde, Trilogy, Lion's Gate, Puerta Azul. It's a good thing you and I weren't there together. Alone, I could fake it long enough to survive. With a like-minded stroppy trout by my side we should have gotten kicked out. :P

Hehe! Indeed yes, what fun!

Very good idea of capture

Well seen, captured and fiddled :-)))

Cool in many respects, including the brick texture. If this shadow is any indication, those must be really bizarre railings, all in a row. And thanks for reminding me that I have tonnes of shadow related pics still lingering in my files, A.

Even here in the backwaters of Western New York, there are communities where each house has to be a certain color, or one of maybe three colors, and only certain and mailboxes all have to be the same and only three trees planted just so and on and on. Would be a little hard to tell which is your house on a dark and rainy night! I do like the shadows though, bet it was pretty impressive seeing rows and rows of these shadows, LOL

And if you talked to any of the residents they would proudly tell you of their individuality. Nice artistic abstract. Without you commentary I don't think anyone would know what this was.

Lovely shadows against the uniform pavers!

What a great spot! A most unusual shadow picture with a sinister hint!

Looks as if it would make a good B&W.
