Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Aww, well he hasn't got much in the way of body fat, no wonder he feels the cold! I'd be happy to give him a transplant ;p Wonderful capture of the blissful boy!

Bless him, he looks really relaxed enjoying the sun and keeping nicely warm. Two great captures, one here and the other one.

Thanks, Mum, for keeping me warm.

Aahhh Ralphie, isn't it good to have a warm blankie, sunshine, a full tummy, and family all your own? Such a beautiful face Ralphie has.

The old warrior at ease in his blankie. Charles Shultz once said that happiness is a warm puppy. You've captured that very well in this image. So adorable.

Ralph doesn't look take big from this POV and covered up like that!

Oh, how sweet. You have to coddle him, Andrea. So lovely to see, he enjoys his blanket.

I love your chronicles of your dogs, how you capture them in so many dog-like poses and acts. This and the flickr version are beautiful. And I love how he peeks at you from under all those blankets. The colors really work beautifully with him. As for his age, he must be a rescue, right? If you don't know his age for sure, I assume he is. It's great that you take rescues, because a lot of people won't. You take on a history when you do (as you experienced in your last dog), and it's grand of owners to do that since they often don't know what that history entailed. This is just beautiful, as are so many of your dog shots. And you know, I'm 64, and I get cold too: I just purchased "state of the art" winter sports gloves---because they're supposed to be the warmest around. I went out last week, and my fingertips were still cold. And these are "technical" gloves---with all that goretex and special layers and materials, etc; and still, the pure leather/wool gloves are no warmer. So I sympathize with Ralph. We get older, it's harder to stay warm. (We're down minus 13C today---one friend's dog passed out, it was so cold.) You do really beautiful work with dog photography. And knowing these are your pets makes it all the more special.
