Description

...with its cool textures and stress fractures, that's been driven over and stopped on a zillion and a half times by vehicles of every size and make. Captured 11/23/13, early AM, not far from home. I tilted the camera in order to display the stripe as large as possible. A ZOOM is highy recommended. Lookng northwest, the main boulevard is to the left of the stripe and the side street is to the right. Ta-ta.

Nice shot! The cracks are actually quite amazing. They follow the line.

Great looking capture here, Harry. Looks like someone needs to do a quick patch job.

Interesting how the cracks follow the painted line...it almost looks like the San Andreas Faultline underlined for emphasis! Well spotted, Harry, and a fascinating capture!

interesting capture...and one question I think...the white strip had to be drawn after the appearance of cracks ... so that cantaonniers can remedy

A crack in the road, very well seen and captured. So, or worse, look in Germany most of the streets.

Things we see every day without ever actually "Seeing" them. Brings back memories of being a very young child, when everything was fascinating and we would stop to actually look. Thank you for bring back that simple joy.

One of Andrea's favorite subjects (as she says) and definitely a power-laden one for you. Sandy (dragonmuse) wrote a beautiful comment, btw, and it's one of several summations for your work. I love this shot. When it went up, I whispered: Yes! That's how it should look. The tilt works 100%, and the strip moves perfectly from lower left to upper right, with a few lines above and below, as contrast. (And a lotta crackly pock marks around it.) Love the fissures on the stripe---was it Denise who said it looked like the San Andreas fault? Underlined? Well, if it were an aerial shot, it could be (if the fault is even that clear, from the air). But it just shows that the big patterns in nature are paralleled by tiny patterns everywhere; and you find them and present them to us. An abstract from real life, with some fascinating prints on the stripe, bits of hue on the street, and not a hint---from the pic alone---of a "main boulevard" anywhere in sight: From your pov, main-anything seems worlds away: This is all about a stripe and the colonies that surround it. Another lesson (from your gallery) on the adage, "the picture's below your nose, if you know how to find it..."
