Description

"Waitrose has unveiled a new Irish cheddar, rippled with Murphy's Irish Stout, in time for St Patrick's Day. The retailer said the cheese is made by Old Irish Creamery and will be available on its deli counters for a limited period. The cheddar is chipped and the iconic stout is then added to create the fantastic moody marbled effect in the cheese. Nicola Plummer, Waitrose buyer comments, "This delicious new cheese combines the rich creams produced by the Irish cows who graze on the country's emerald green grass, creating a full bodied cheddar combined with a touch of creativity. It looks magnificent and delivers a yeasty, chocolaty flavour. this is not a gimmick for St Patrick's Day to be avoided like green beer, it's the most delicious cheese which is sure to find a home on cheese boards up and down the country." Sadly it is no longer available from Waitrose!

Never heard of this cheese Andrea. Apparently we have a sex predator in our area who stabs women in the bum with a pair of knitting needles. The police think he is working to a pattern!

Love cheese, hate beer. Either way, a terrific shot! I'll just pretend it was infused with something tasty, and take a virtual bite. :D

This looks delish!!!! I am a Guinness drinker myself, but have had the Murphy's. Some say there is little difference, but I can tell the differences. Anyway all immaterial. This is a great shot btw Andrea, I love that rind

From perfume bottles to cheddar cheese ads? Andrea, really? Very cool depiction of the calorie laden chunk of Murphy's Cheedar. Sorry to read that it is no longer available, because I would love to munch into that.

A fascinating capture, initially looking at it one might think it was a piece of ancient pottery, the pattern is excellent. Nice shot.

When I was young some of my friends took to calling me Ben Gunn. I do love the cheese! You lift the spirit with your excellent image and description only to leave the viewer in bitter disappointment in the end. Oh well, tomorrow I shall console myself with a nice brick of ordinary Irish Cheddar.

Well Andrea, that really is a bit cruel to show us this lovely cheese, and give us such a mouth watering description of it .. and then tell us it is no longer available? An interesting shot of this cheese .. and my mouth is watering. Sigh. Never to taste it.

I love cheese but not so sure about this one I think I'll settle for a nice piece of blue vain.
