Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Fab pic, so well seen! What a dilemma: I am like you about environmental issues.

Nice pic! It is a good rant as the US is facing some very serious water issues and Canadians are already concerned about American use of Canadian water, and how much more will be needed. It could develop into major issues between the US and Canada though I hope not. On the other hand, how much water is going into endless lawns in California? And golf courses? And so on. These are issues that should be looked at on my side of the border too but few are interested in restricting our uses because we have so much. BUT, and it is a big but, now the water consumption in northern Alberta for production of oil from the tar sands is going to bring this issue forward. The amount of water used is unbelievable! Now, there's my rant!

Oh man, this reminds me of the post office water fountain.... There is a story behind our water fountain.... Nice shot. Aloha

Wonderful photo. As for the environmental issues...hmmm. I have seen mother nature create her own dams from time to time. I certainly do love the environment and have a great desire to protect what we have. However, I think sometimes we can go too far. By that I mean if in the past man created a dam or something to improve his own lifestyle and changed the environment by so doing sometimes trying to undo it makes more chaos than if we simply allow nature to adjust to the new reality. For example southern Utah's Lake Powell has been an issue of debate for years. Personally I think that now the lake has been there for years draining it would cause more damage to the environment in the area which has adjusted to that reality than maintaining it would do. I am no expert, of course, but I do believe man and nature can adjust to each other without destroying each other. I have much more concern over the amount of garbage we produce such as plastics and poisonous gasses than whether we have created a man-made lake somewhere. Although I definitely believe we should take the time and care to do environmental impact studies and such before we create more big projects. Now I also will climb down from my soapbox. :) Thanks so much for sharing your views and your beautiful photos. I really love your work.

Ordinary drinking fountain turned into photographic art - very creative & well-executed...

Good lawd, Maz, a photograph of the first water!!! Pun intended. Really cool action shot of the liquid gushing from the spout and into the sink then down the drain. Incidentally, so far. California is going dry, snow and rainfall-wise. That's my rant.

What a great shot! I can taste how cold and clear that must be, just looking at it. :) Now shut the water off, girl, you're wasting a precious natural resource! :D

The rants are so exhausting I'm just going to forget the whole thing and have a great big drink of that cool, clear water. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, good. Neat shot my friend.
