Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  ÂÂ

Snakes are fascinating but ..... not really my case. I have great respect for them and that's putting it mildly ..... FEAR! Because my skills are equal to zero. Thanks for the info. But she has a very nice color.

Great capture from the colors I would have assumed it was deadly!

I do not like snakes because I do not know how to recognize them, that one would have scared me, but he is superb with its splendid colors! Excellent capture, Dana! Congratulations for your 1500th image!

This snake scares me, but you say it is not venomous ! Two superb shots of it, Dana ! Congrats for your 1500th !

Not knowing about them I would have presumed it to be dangerous with that vivid color. I particularly like the upper shot, almost like posed. And congratulations on reaching 1500! That represents a lot of work and pleasure for those of us watching your every move.

Wayne, the snake was backed up against a step and I am guessing that this is a defensive position. S/he was to fast to allow me to pose him!

A friend of mine has a Milk snake which to my untrained eye looks similar. I've even gotten to handle it as it is harmless too, unlike 100% of the native snakes around here....which will KILL ya as soon as look at ya! lol

Ce sont vraiment de superbes image non ami et un instant j'ai cru que c'etait le serpent corail. These are really great image, my friend, and a moment I thought it was the coral snake.

O.K. it's safe but it sure doesn't look that way, my cat when she was a kitten kept bringing red bellied black snakes into the kitchen for our approval...and are extremely poisonous ! ~Cheers~

Snakes can be such fascinating creatures. I seriously would be tempted to keep this pretty little critter as a pet, considering that it's so small and non-venomous. And so good-looking. :)

That's great that you did that Dana, as you know I am a snake fan and keep a rat snake and have 20 Royal pythons at home :) we have a similar saying, "Red on yellow or white, kill a fellow or might, Red on black venom lack" :) Great shots and some good info too
sossy
