Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

It´s a beautiful place you live, Andrea :)

What a charming avenue Andrea, such mature trees! Ahh pyromania it's there in all of us! A primeval force back to basic instincts! We love the sound of running water for the same reason I believe. A fresh water supply and a fire, 2 of our most important requirements for living! The fire is a base for us hunter/ gathers to come back to and cook! Grunt grunt!

I love the shape of the trees, and the different coloured leaves really make a welcoming archway of the avenue. Gorgeous shot!

Super shades of oolor dominate the lovely countrylike tableau in this super shot of your affluent arboreal environs, Andrea.

I envy you, for living in such beautiful surrounds and especially for the width of those footpaths, (I have to walk on the road and take my life into my own hands, if I just want to get to the bus stop!) just take a look at the town planning that went into those, of those who had the foresight of designing and planning them, 'they don't make them like they used to anymore' ;(( Gorgeous Andrea, BB

I so pray there is never a big storm that might bring even one of these beautiful trees down. It would be an absolute crime to lose even one. You are indeed lucky to live here, it is beautiful

A beautiful street Andrea and it seems that your garden overflows into the street!

As bill says, it's great to get a glimpse of what you call home (you show many shots of your home, but this is a full view of your street, with your driveway right up front). I had to comment on this for its lush beauty---esp for Dec---but also because I couldn't help think of my streets as well. Not because you have high rises around you, but because of the tree-lined shadows (they canopy your street), and the sense of lushness all around. I felt at home. Also, beautifully centered, and the smoke from the fire adds a sense of softness and mist to the whole, which only accentuates how soft the area looks to an outsider. A restful shot, and I'm grateful to see it given where I live. (I actually long for no high rises, and if I had to take the best of my neighborhood to an area free of them, this would be the kind of place I'd like to be.) And, for Dec? This is beautiful. I looked at this several times since you posted it.
