Cabbage, from the gardens at Chateau Villandry in France. Haven't been taking very many new photos lately, so am going back through my files to see if I can find some that might be worth posting...
Please zoom.

this is what's sittin' around in your files? Duuuuude! (as a friend of mine would say): Those are some files! Beautiful! Edward Weston did shots of vegetables, mostly black and white (if I recall), and they were studies in deep contrast and undulant line and flow (I'll give you a few links at end, assuming you don't already know them well). And he comes to mind, naturally, when seeing this. But this is so different: This is a symphony of tightly repeated lines and veins, of speckled light everywhere, of the contrast of rich yellow and deep greens, of the way the leaf-edges give 'shape' to an otherwise sea of veins and river-like flows. It pulses and has electricity; and the layout of all these leaves---just spreading out across the frame---makes this feel like a grand cabbage-peacock spreading its tail to show off all its glory. This is glorious. My kind of vegetable shot (meaning what I love, not what I've ever done myself). Just stunning. Don't throw away those files! God knows what else you have sitting around in there! (Ok, 4 Westons---they're TOO SMALL, but I haven't got the time right now to find better jpgs ((I have a flu as I write this)); and that's assuming larger is even available online. Also, unfortunately, the new site design doesn't allow me to make active links of these: I was told that's no longer possible. So if you wanna see these, you'll have to cut and paste. But they make interesting comparisons... http://www.edward-weston.com/images/Edward_Weston_Natural/ARTICHOKE_1930_28V.jpg http://uploads1.wikipaintings.org/images/edward-weston/cabbage-leaf-1931.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b7/Weston-pepper30.jpg http://deyoung.famsf.org/files/imagecache/exhibition_preview_large/blog/53942.jpg
