Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Wow! - I really love your posts on Flickr how they so "pop"... do they offer a higher resolution difference not possible on Renderosity?

The fungus is almost as big as Rosie. Super shot, but I also do not know what a kind of fungi it is.

Nice shot!
MrsRatbag
Looks like she's pointing it out to you; I hope she isn't the one who took the bites out of it! What a massive growth that one is!

Beautiful shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could it be 'Oak mill cap' (Lactarius quietus)????
Adobe_One_Kenobi
Not mushroom to fit Rosie in there hehehe!!! Sorry couldn't resist that one :) Great shot my friend.

jendellas
Its nearly as big as Rosie :o)

Fantastic find, but you certainly would not want that on a large slice of toast!... certainly looks like Lactarius quietus.... it is reputedly edible but with complications that make it unviable to prep and consume... best avoided big time. Great capture, looks as if some creatures have had a nibble or two.

Lovely shot.

WONDERFUL WORK

Wonderful POV, color, focus and texture in this image, featuring Rosie, in a moment of wise hesitation, waiting for your signal as to whether to take a bite out of the fungus, or to play it safe and back off.

Rosie looks worried. "Mom? I don't know what this one is. Sorry!" Your ID shot on Flickr is superb. So sharp!
blondeblurr
She does look a little apprehensive, 'to touch or not to touch, that is the question' :)) BB BTW - my book tells me, that it could belong to the RUSSULA species, (charcoal burner- russula cyanoxantha) but - the mushrooms in this family are some of the most difficult to identify accurately ?@#$% (poisonous: russula mairei & russula emetica)
Faemike55
Outstanding capture of both! love Rosie's pose
three_grrr
As impressive as the large mushroom is, I'm totally taken by Rosie's expression! She seems a bit intimidated by the size of this massive shroom! "Mom, is this thing safe???" she seems to be asking. Yes, I know her expression has nothing to do with the size of the mushroom, but it's fun to imagine what they might be thinking.
jocko500
cool looking
jocko500
that a big mushroom

The thing looks like a hat Friar Tuck might have worn. Love Rosie's pose, especially the raised paw.
dakotabluemoon
Super shot of the shroomie looks like someone else wants in on the action lol.
danapommet
A wonderful photo of Rosie and the mushroom although Rosie does not look like she wants to be there!
